Assistant Professor
Dr. Hemant Kumar Apat is an academic and researcher in the field of Cloud and Fog Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain-assisted Security, and Optimization Algorithms. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, where his doctoral research focused on developing performance enhancement strategies for fog–cloud computing environments. His work proposed innovative task placement and optimization techniques aimed at minimizing latency, energy consumption, and cost while ensuring secure and scalable service delivery in IoT-based systems. He is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the School of Computer Applications, KIIT Deemed-to-be University, Bhubaneswar, where he teaches core computer science subjects including Cloud Computing, Data Structures, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Optimization Theory, and Data Mining. He obtained his M.Tech. from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal, in 2018, where he explored graph-theoretic approaches in bioinformatics. Dr. Apat’s research outcomes include several SCI-indexed publications, international conference papers, book chapters, and multiple patent filings. His current research continues to focus on optimizing distributed computing architectures and integrating emerging technologies for sustainable and intelligent IoT-driven applications.
